missional musings

About Me

I see theology not as a study of mere doctrines but as the wondrous study of the living God.  I see mission as participating in the transformational power of the Gospel as the Kingdom of God comes upon us all. I see the Cross-centered life as radically liberating, bringing joy to the soul. My hope is to grow in all of these areas and work—though it is God working in me—to make disciples of the Lord, redeem a slavish culture, and renew a broken society. If you are to join me in this task and stand beside me on the front lines in battle, I hope that my musings may be of some help, encouragement, or inspiration to you.Ryan & Emily Benhase

My name is Ryan Benhase. I live with my lovely wife, Emily, in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati. I have a passion for the city and long to see it transformed by the Gospel of Jesus; for this reason, I would eventually like to plant churches and equip others to the same. As of now, I am still learning, but my desire to see Cincinnatians come to know the Lord only grows with time. I also enjoy the company of friends, my wife’s wonderful cooking, good books, good music, and craft beer.

I don’t suppose I know anything more than the next guy when it comes to blogging about theology or culture, and I certainly don’t anticipate having anything “new” or “exciting” to share. The things I blog about are the things I’m contemplating as I work my way through life, tackling one issue after another, and learning a great deal along the way. God is good.

To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God,
be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 1:17 (ESV)
